Travel Converters

Voltage Valet's travel converters are designed for use with personal appliances and small electronic devices while traveling overseas. There are two types of travel converters available: Transformer and Solid State. Use the information below to determine the correct type of converter for your appliance.

Overload Protection
There are no fuses to replace with Voltage Valet's Automatic Overload Protection Circuit: The models V5, V16, VCA and VCC contain patented protection circuitry. If an overload condition occurs your converter will automatically shut off, protecting the converter and your appliance. To restart, simply unplug the converter and allow to cool for 5 to 10 minutes, then plug back in.

Model V5 50 watt step down transformer: Designed for use with 110-120 volt electronic, motorized or heating appliances with a wattage rating of 50 watts or less. IMPORTANT NOTE: The model V5 is not designed for continuous use and should be removed from the electrical outlet when not in use.

Model V85 85 watt step down transformer: Designed for continuous use with 110-120 volt electronic, motorized, or heating appliances with a wattage rating of 85 watts or less.

Model V100 100 watt grounded step down transformer: Designed for continuous use with 110-120 volt electronic, motorized, or heating appliances with a wattage rating of 100 watts or less.

Model V16 1600 watt solid state converter: Designed ONLY for use with 110-120 volt non-electronic heating appliances* rated up to a maximum of 1600 watts. IMPORTANT NOTE: This model is not designed for continuous use and should be removed from the electrical outlet when not in use.

Combination Converter

Model VCC Combination Converter: The VCC combines the V5 transformer and the V16 solid state converter into one unit. A convenient selector switch allows use of motorized, electronic, and heating appliances with a wattage rating of 50 watts or less in the 50 watt setting, or high wattage non-electronic heating appliances rated up to a maximum of 1600 watts in the 1600 watt setting.

Autoswitching Converter

 

Model VCA Autoswitching Converter
The VCA combines a 50 watt transformer and a 2000 watt solid state converter into one unit. Automatic load sensing allows use of electronic and motorized appliances with a wattage rating of 50 watts or less, or high wattage non-electronic heating appliances rated up to a maximum of 2000 watts or less.

Reverse Converters

Reverse Converters use step up transformers to increase 110-120 volt North American electricity to match the 220-240 volts needed by foreign appliances.

Model V4R U. L. Listed Reverse Converter: Designed for continuous use with 220-240 volt motorized, electronic, or heating appliances rated 40 watts or less.

Model V5R Reverse Converter: Designed for use with 220-240 volt motorized, electronic, or heating appliances rated 50 watts or less. IMPORTANT NOTE: The Model V5R is not designed for continuous use and should be removed from the electrical outlet when not in use.

Large Appliance Use Overseas

Heavy Duty Transformers: When continuous power is needed for large appliances or electronic devices such as; computers, power tools, kitchen appliances, stereos or any permanently installed electrical equipment, you must use a heavy duty transformer. Two types of heavy duty transformers are available: step up or step down. Step up transformers increase 110-120 volts to 220-240 volts, for use with foreign appliances in North America. Step down transformers decrease 220-240 volts to 110-120 volts for use with North American appliances overseas. Models are available in wattage ratings from 100 to 1500 watts.

Heavy Duty Step Up/Step Down Transformers

Voltage Valet offers a convenient solution to the problem of voltage conversion when taking larger electrical appliances overseas or when using foreign appliances in the U.S. Our line of step up/step down transformers converts 110-120 volt U.S. electricity to 220-240 volts in the Step Up mode, and 220-240 volt foreign electricity to 110-120 volts in the Step Down mode. For use with ungrounded electrical appliances.(IMPORTANT Information)

Step Up/Step Down Transformers can be used with appliances that require a continuous power source. The following list is a general grouping of appliances by wattage. The wattage rating of each appliance to be used must be determined before choosing a transformer.

Grounded Step Down Transformers

Grounded transformers are recommended for use with any appliance or electronic device with a grounded plug. Use Voltage Valet's grounded step down transformers with your 110-120 volt North American applainces and electronic devices when traveling to foreign countries with 220-240 volt power sources.

The Voltage Valet line of UL Listed Step Up Transformers offers the safest and most reliable way to use 220-240 volt foreign electrical products with 110-120 volt North American power sources. They are designed and built for continuous use with all types of 220-240 volt appliances and electronic devices (IMPORTANT Information). Important safety features include: isolated transformers, grounded Schuko style European receptacles (use with model GUB adaptor plug for all other plug configurations), NEMA 5-15 power cords/plugs, and replaceable fuse protection. Listed in both the United States and Canada by Underwriters Laboratories. One year limited warranty.

Transformers Do Not Convert Cycles
IMPORTANT: Transformers do not convert cycles (60Hz North America vs. 50Hz foreign), and some appliances may not operate normally when used overseas. These include, but are not limited to: microwave ovens, analog clocks, motorized electric typewriters, televisions and turntables. Consult the appliance manufacturer if you have any questions.
